2022 Subaru WRX Overview
What's New For 2022?
Beyond the general style and attitude it carries, everything is new with the 2022 WRX, which rides on Subaru's updated global platform and provides more power through the turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder that's shared with a few larger models in our Manassas dealership's lineup. There's a new GT edition with special equipment and sporty driving modes, and later on in this cycle, the updated STI version should make around 400 horsepower. New tech features including a larger touchscreen and more options are also added to the 2022 WRX.
Performance and Technology
As we mentioned, the WRX now uses a larger turbocharged engine, producing 271 horsepower with 258 pound-feet of torque. And while many sporty sedans are satisfied with a rear-wheel drive setup that's typical in that kind of high-performance model, the WRX uses the unique Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system for clever dynamics and better grip on the road surfaces around northern Virginia where you'll be driving.
Past versions of the WRX were relatively sparse with technology, focusing more on its performance and sporty styling. But the new 2022 WRX is loaded with all kinds of Subaru tech, including the tablet-style 11.6-inch touchscreen with smartphone integration and more. The Subaru EyeSight safety features like forward collision mitigation, lane departure warning, adaptive cruise control and more are all easily added to the fold.
