What's New For 2022?

Few vehicles cover all the bases quite like the new 2022 Subaru Outback. While capable and spacious enough to serve as your everyday family vehicle around northern Virginia, it's also amazingly efficient and in the right setups, ready for all kinds of adventures. 

Everything remains the same as the 2021 Outback, with one notable new upgrade: The Wilderness Edition. Somehow making the Outback an even better off-road adventurer, this special edition adds ground clearance, special roof rack and rails, special tires with the iconic Subaru Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, and uses the optional turbocharged four-cylinder engine upgrade. This is the edition you'll want if you plan on using your Outback for all kinds of camping and outdoors excursions.

Performance and Technology

A couple engine options allow you to choose the style of 2022 Outback that works best for your particular travels. For daily commuters, sticking with the base 2.5-liter four-cylinder is the way to go, as you'll earn up to 33 mpg on the highway, which is a considerably strong rating for a vehicle with standard AWD. That engine also produces a perfectly capable 182 horsepower with 176 pound-feet of torque. For more power, and found in higher trims, including the all-new Wilderness Edition, the optional turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder hums along to the tune of 260 horsepower with 277 pound-feet of torque.

Like with all Subaru vehicles, the new 2022 Outback is loaded with smart technology, including several safety features. Standard driver aids include adaptive cruise control, forward collision mitigation, lane keeping assist and automatic high beams, with blind-spot monitoring added in higher trims. Other standard tech features include a touchscreen - which becomes larger in higher levels - and smartphone integration apps.
